#2 Edge seal pothole repair

The purpose of edge sealing is to keep water from penetrating the joint between the pavement and the repair. For using this method, you first have to use “throw-and-roll” repair for filling the pothole and then compacting it with a heavy vehicle.

After you are done with that, you take it one step further by putting asphaltic tack material around the edge of the patch, overlapping the pavement and the patch.

Then, all you need to do is place sand on the tack material to avoid vehicle tires tracking it, and you’re done!

#3 Semi-permanent Pothole Repair

Semi-permanent is considered to be one of the best method used to fix or repair your potholes problems. This process provides long lasting results and is much more cost efficient as compared to other methods. It also requires a good number of labor forces and is more equipment-intensive. It includes the following procedures:

• Take out debris and water from the pothole
• Make clean cuts along the sides of the pothole and assure that the new hole is based in sound pavement
• Place the patch material into the hole
• Compact the patch with either a vibratory roller or a vibratory plate that is smaller than the patch area.

The spray injection pothole repair method is an effective substitute to the semi-permanent method, thought it requires some specialized equipment to fix your pothole problems.

This method is also quick, fast, provides long lasting patches and uses low cost materials. Although it also requires skilled labor to operate a good patch and the equipment costs is higher than other methods. This method also consist of the following procedures:

• Blow water and debris from the pothole.
• Spray a tack coat of binder on the sides and bottom of the pothole.
• Blow asphalt and aggregate in the pothole and cover the patch with a layer of aggregate.

#5. Full Depth roadway pothole replacement

Full depth patches are also necessary where the entire depth of pavement is distressed. This method is one of the most complex and cost efficient way to repair potholes problems.

 

This repair process combines worn out asphalt with the old asphalt that is pulverized, mixed with cement and water and then compacted to produce a base for either an asphalt of concrete surface. 

This method repair potholes by simply getting rid of them, replacing them entirely new pavement.
