5 Best Methods To Repair Potholes In Toronto!!
Our pothole repairs are designed to make oadways are always
kept in great condition. Pothole repair methods depend on the size of the
pothole, the condition of the surrounding pavement, and the number of pavements
involved.
Unfortunately, when asphalt becomes brittle during the winter
months, it becomes susceptible to breakage. This, in turn, can severely damage
your vehicle. The good news is that, we offer pothole repairs in TORONTO to
keep the roads in proper condition. As a pothole repair company, Main Infrastructure offer the
following procedures.
Take a look
at some of the methods to fix the holes on your asphalt pavement!
#1. Throw-and-roll pothole repair
This method is similar to the standard “throw-and-go”,
“dump-and-run”, or “pitch-and pat”
method for repairing potholes. This method is a temporary solution and most
widely used to fix your potholes problems as soon as possible. The throw and
roll method include the following steps:
Place the asphaltic patching materials into the pothole.
Then, use any type of hand tool such as shovel or pitchfork to fill the pothole
or even compact the patch by driving over it with a heavy vehicle (large truck,
tractor, bulldozer, etc.) at least 6-8 times.
This method is not much more cost-efficient and long lasting
so we suggest that use this process only when you absolutely require it.
#2 Edge
seal pothole repair
The purpose of edge sealing is to keep water from
penetrating the joint between the pavement and the repair. For using this
method, you first have to use “throw-and-roll” repair for filling the pothole
and then compacting it with a heavy vehicle.
After you are done with that, you take it one step further by
putting asphaltic tack material around the edge of the patch, overlapping the
pavement and the patch.
Then, all you need to do is place sand on the tack material
to avoid vehicle tires tracking it, and you’re done!

It also requires a good number of labor forces and is more equipment-intensive.
It includes the following procedures:
- Take out debris and water from the pothole
- Make clean cuts along the sides of the pothole and assure that the new hole is based in sound pavement
- Place the patch material into the hole
- Compact the patch with either a vibratory roller or a vibratory plate that is smaller than the patch area.
#4. Spray-injection pothole repair
The spray
injection pothole repair method is an effective substitute to the
semi-permanent method, thought it requires some specialized equipment to fix
your pothole problems.
This method is
also quick, fast, provides long lasting patches and uses low cost materials.
Although it also requires skilled labor to operate a good patch and the
equipment costs is higher than other methods. This method also consist of the
following procedures:

Full depth
patches are also necessary where the entire depth of pavement is distressed. This
method is one of the most complex and cost efficient way to repair potholes
problems.
This repair
process combines worn out asphalt with the old asphalt that is pulverized,
mixed with cement and water and then compacted to produce a base for either an
asphalt of concrete surface.
